The Oscars: Where ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ won enough gold to feed Mumbai for a decade

6921_55286626024Sorry for the slight break in posting, folks. I happened to be on a little vacation this weekend and my system was in a bit of a shock. I left the stark reality of the 765 for the luxurious escape of my hometown in the North Shore.

Anyways, the Oscars were last night and Slumdog Millionaire was the big winner. However, there were plenty of other highlights on the evening.

-First and foremost, Ben Stiller’s parody of the Joaquin Phoenix saga was brilliant. (I’d click on the link soon before YouTube takes it down.)

-Angelina Jolie’s body. ‘Nuff said.

-Half of the 14 million residents of Mumbai were on stage for the acceptance of the Best Movie Award. It’s a shame they all have to leave the lush, ostentatious extravagance of LA and return to their tin shacks.

-Sean Penn was surprisingly personable inbetween his bouts of self-righteousness.

-Judd Apatow was mentioned and shown on screen several times throughout the night. Judd, if you’re reading this, and I have a feeling you might be, I would drop out of school if you give me a chance to hang around one of your movie sets.

-Angelina Jolie’s body.

Don’t worry. Pretzel Day’s mini-vacation is over. We’ll be here everyday this week. Hope you all had a good weekend and, as always, thank you for your continued support of Pretzel Day.
